SYLLABUS

The School follows the syllabus of

STATE & CENTRE BOARD OF SECONDARY EDUCATION FOR I TO X 
INCLUSIVE EDUCATION AND LEARNING ASSISTANCE SECTION 
NATIONAL INSTITUTE OF OPEN SCHOOLING (NIOS) FOR X TO XII
 
KINDERGARTEN:
 

The School cares the basic reading skills of each child related to their visual and auditory discrimination, left to right orientation etc in a play way method.

 
CENTRAL BOARD OF SECONDARY EDUCATION AND STATE
 
Kalyan group of schools follows the academic pattern prescribed by the Central Board of Secondary education (CBSE) and the academic pattern prescribed by the State Government of Kerala (State Syllabus). The School prepares the students for central board of secondary education and state education. A high standard of teaching discipline, development of moral and social habits and various extracurricular activities which make the children able and committed citizens. These are the main features of education imparted by this institution.
INCLUSIVE EDUCATION AND LEARNING ASSISTANCE SECTION
 
Inclusive education means, all students attend regular classes and are supported to learn, contribute and participate in all aspects of the life of the school Our aim is to strike a balance between academically backward students with the mainstream channel
 
We impart this with the help of LEARNING ASSISTANCE (LAS) where students are benefitted with simplified curriculum and skill acquisition and generalisation of life skills
 
NATIONAL INSTITUTE OF OPEN SCHOOLING
 
NIOS is recognised under CENTRAL BOARD OF HUMAN RESOURCE MANAGEMENT & THE STUDENT who studies under this Scheme are eligible for higher education under any university. The examination is usually in the month of October & April. In the NIOS Scheme too frequent test papers are conducted similar to that of CBSE pattern.
 
EXAMINATION AND PROMOTION POLICY FOR CLASSES I – VIII
 
A.Scholastic Area
 
1. There will be 2 terms carrying 100 marks each, which will include the following:
 
First term (June – October): Periodic Assessment 1+ Half Yearly Examination Second Term (November – March): Periodic Assessment 2+ Annual Examination.
 
(a)Periodic Assessments: The Periodic Assessment carrying weight age of 20 Marks each would be conducted twice a year. It would include Periodic Tests, Subject Enrichment Activities and Notebook Submission, as follows:
 
(i)P.T.’S: There would be Two Periodic Tests (P.T. ‘S) in the entire academic Year.
 
These will be conducted as: Periodic Test – 1 in August, Periodic Test – 2 in December, with portion of syllabus cumulatively covered. The gradually increasing portion of contents would help students gain confidence for appearing in the Annual examination. These PT’s would carry 25 marks each.
 
(ii)s.E.A : Subject Enrichment Activities (S.E.A) will be conducted twice a year as follows:
 
Malayalam, English, Hindi, Mathematics, Science, Social Science, Computer etc.
 
these S.E.A’S would carry 05 Marks each.
(iii)N.B.S: Notebook Submission (N.B.S) will be done on the following parameters:
 
(a)Regularity (b) Punctuality (c) Notebook upkeep (d) Work done (e) Assignment Completion. This would carry 05 Marks.
 
In addition to the above, there would be minimum two class tests conducted per subject in each term.
 
(b)Half Yearly Examination: Half yearly Examination (Written) Examination carrying weight age of 80 marks would be conducted in the month of October, which would include the entire syllabus covered since June till the data notified.
 
(c)Annual Examination (for the classes I to V) : Annual (Written) examination carrying weight age of 80 marks would be conducted in the month of March, which would include syllabus covered since June as per the following weight age 10% of 1st Term, covering significant topics + entire syllabus of 2nd Term.
 
(d)Annual Examination (for the classes VI to VIII): Annual (Written) Examination carrying weight age of 80 marks would be conducted in the month of March, which would include syllabus covered since June as per the following class – wise weightage Classes V1 – 10% of 1″ Term, covering significant topics + entire syllabus of 2 Term. Class VII: 20% of 1 Term, covering significant topics + entire syllabus of 20 Term. Class VII: 30% of 14 Term, covering significant topics + entire syllabus of 2 Term.
 
Calculation of the Final Result:
 
20% of the periodic Assessments
 
80% of Yearly Examinations
 
Note: Parents to ensure that their ward appear in the periodic tests according to the dates mentioned in the school calendar. Children should score minimum 33% in class Tests, Half Yearly Or Annual Examination in their own better academic interest.
 
B. Co Scholastic Area
 
1. Following area will be graded Work Education (Social, Economic & welfare activities, Art, Health & Physical Education, GK, Aptitude, Dance/Music (attendance, Sincerity, Behavior, Values, Tidiness. respectfulness for rules & regulations, Attitude towards society, nation & others)
 
2. The grading in the above Areas will be done on 3 point grading scale (A=Outstanding, B= Very Good and C+ Fair)
